We Support Earth Hour!

We’ve signed up for Earth Hour! What is Earth Hour?

“WWF created Earth Hour to help people that are concerned about our planet and want to show their support for action on climate change.

Earth Hour provides WWF with the opportunity to mobilize millions of people towards global climate change action. At http://www.earthhourcanada.org, WWF provides the tools and information necessary to participate, while also tracking participation and measuring results.” From http://wwf.ca/earthhour

Earth Hour begins at 8:30 pm Saturday March 28 and ends on 9:30 pm. Over 2,848 cities, towns and municipalities in 84 countries have signed up and committed to this event. 250 cities in Canada alone are signed up and 70 events are planned. Vancouver will be powering down city hall and is asking residents to help darken all of the city skyline in support.

So turn off your lights for an hour on Saturday night and help send the message!

Get the Most Money for your Property

The most recent National Association of Realtors latest survey of home buyer’s and sellers shows where buyer’s first learn about their purchases and what information they value the most when doing their search.

Where buyer’s first learn about their purchases

What buyers find most valuable

The most recent National Association of Realtors latest survey of home buyer’s and sellers shows where buyer’s first learn about their purchases and what information they value the most when doing their search.

The Real Estate Weekly is getting thinner by the month. Major newspapers like the LA Times are dropping their print Real Estate sections. It’s no wonder when you consider where buyers are looking for their next home or property and the depth of information they now expect. A small black and white photo with a price and archaic short hand descriptions, akin to today’s shorthand cell phone texting (e.g. 3 BR, 2 Bath, 1650 sqft, PRICE 2 SELL!!!), just doesn’t cut it. They are expecting professional high-resolution full-color photos, video, voice-over audio describing the look and feel, detailed floor plans, aerial and/or satellite views of the property, and interactive maps with all the local coffee shops, stores, and schools. And they don’t want to have to search everywhere for it; it must be all in one easy to access place before they’ll even consider making an appointment to go and actually see it!

The days of guarding information with the idea that buyers will need to come “see” your property and drive up anticipation in an open house are gone. Buyers will simply pass over your listing and look to the next listing that has lots of good photos as well as all the other information they value. More importantly, they will not be able to get all that information from a magazine, newspaper, classified, or yard sign. There are a number of companies out there who will provide all these services together and ensure that your property is online with all the information that buyers want. It is not expensive to do so: prices range from low-end $100 to high-end $500 including the floor-plan measuring and the works. Your first impression online is extremely important and will set the expectation and experience before buyers actually visit your property. Make sure it will not be an uphill battle to change the first online impression of the buyers and get the price that you want.
